Executives Reticent to Employ: US Chamber of Commerce

Census Bureau : Nation had Nearly 350,000 Non-employer Business Locations In 2008

  • There are no pain employees in the non-employer businesses. They have annual business receipts of $1,000 or more ($1 or more in the construction industries) and are subject to federal income taxes.
  • Based U.S. Census Bureau report of “ non-employer Statistics: 2008,” the nation had 21.4 million non-employer firms in 2008. There was a decrease of 1.6 percent from 2007.
