As per the Forrester Research 5 year prediction, there will be 10 percent compound annual growth rate through 2014 in e-commerce sales in US. It also predicted online retail sales in the US. The online retail sales would be around $250 billion which will increase from $155 billion in 2009. In 2008, the online retail sales increased by 11 percent when compared to 2.5 percent of all retail sales. The other predictions are:

  • By 2014, 8 percent of the e-commerce sales will be represented by all retail sales in the US which will be an increase of 6 percent in 2009.
  • Around 154 million people in US did online shopping which is 67 percent of the online population. There was a 4 percent increase when compared to 2008 online shopping.
  • In 2009, $67.6 billion was spent on purchasing computers, apparel, and consumer electronics which represent more than 44 percent of online sales.
