Is your hair falling? Don’t worry it is good for your health, say some scientists. According to scientists from University of Washington School of Medicine, United States, men who loose their hair by 30years of age are less prone to develop prostate cancer.

Researchers at the University compared the rate of tumours in people who went bald by 30 years of age with those who did not suffer any hair loss. They observed that men with thin hair or baldheads were 29 to 45 percent low in the risk of prostate cancer compared to others.

Baldness is caused when hair follicles are exposed to high quantities of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a chemical produced by the testosterone (male hormone). This study reports that elevated levels of testosterone from a young age may protect them against the prostate cancer attack.

A doctor from the Prostate Cancer Charity said that the age at which a man begins to lose his hair is not a risk factor for prostate cancer. This head of the research management also believes that if these results are right, they could be useful in understanding the behavior of the testosterone on different tissues of the body.
