Social media is the best solution for marketing for small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) in the U.S. A study entitled “Engaging Small Business Decision Makers Through Social Media” was conducted by Business.com. The study included information gained by surveying 1,771 small businesses having less than 100 employees.

The study revealed that about 67% of the small businesses used webinars and podcasts as the most popular social media resources. Webinars and podcasts were found to be the prominent resources that are used by small businesses for decision making. Research of various industries, products and services and learning new skills is possible through the use of webinars and podcasts. This enhances a reduction in costs of attending to seminars in-person.

63% of them were found to use ratings or previews of products. SMBs also rely on the ratings and reviews of the products and services through sites such as Amazon.com for decision making on inventory purchases on the basis of customer reviews.

61 percent of them were found to visit company or product profile pages on social media sites including Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.
