There is a decrease of 0.9 points in July in National Federation of Independent Business Index of Small Business Optimism and it has reached 88.1 with a sharp decline in the month of June. The index has been below 93 percent every month from the past 31 months i.e., since January of 2008. The index has been below 90 for the past 24 months. Deterioration in the outlook of the business conditions in the forthcoming months resulted because of 90 percent decline this month.

As per NFIB, the frequency of the reported capital outlays from the previous 6 months dropped by 1 point to 45 percent of all firms. It is just one point above the 35 year record low which was seen in December of 2009.

As per NFIB, 73 percent of those who were surveyed expressed that the current time is not an ideal one to expand their business. About 66 percent of the respondents expressed that it is because of weak economy and 18 percent expressed that it is because of political climate.
